Governing Council | School Accountability Committee

Governing Council

The purpose of our Governing Council is to ensure that our school achieves outstanding results at all grade levels. We strive to be the top math and science school through technology immersion. As a charter school we are flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of our students. The Council establishes policies as representatives for our students and parents, our staff, and ultimately, our community.

Our Council is comprised of an elected board of five to seven parents and our director. Our job is to guide our school into the future, balancing a strong financial position and a high-quality education for our students. Members are volunteers and typically dedicate one evening each month to shaping the future for our kids.

School Accountability Committee

The School Accountability Committee or SAC is an advisory body whose purpose is to provide the opportunity for parents, staff and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program. It is comprised of 7 voting members (3 elected parents, 1 elected teacher, 1 appointed business member from the community, 1 appointed PVA representative, and 1 school administrator). Final decision-making authority rests with the principal or other person or group receiving the recommendation from the SAC (e.g., the Superintendent, District Advisory Committee (DAC) or Board of Education).

Some of the duties of the SAC are to adopt goals and objectives for the improvement of education within our school as well as discuss safety issues related to our school environment. The SAC also makes recommendations to the principal regarding the prioritization of the expenditures of school moneys. We perform surveys on a periodic basis so we may provide a voice for the school community and we act as a conduit of communication between the district, staff, parents and community. To this end, our meetings are always open and we invite you to attend. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month (with the exception of December and March) at 8:00am. If you are interested in information regarding our meetings, please see the link to the minutes found below.
